A number of people have contacted me asking if they could make donations in some way to the upkeep of my sites, as they know that I am doing it all myself with no income from any of it.
My whole reasoning for these sites is to provide completely
free services for anyone and everyone that wants them and as such, I am loathe
to accept donations for what I have or am still doing. However, doing all this does
take money, which I don’t have, so if anyone wishes to donate to help me keep
all these sites free from advertising and charging, then they are welcome to do
so.
Just to give you some idea of what goes into all these sites:
Although they are not as professional looking as most others
(I am not a web-designer). I am generally working on here for at least 10 hours
of every day.
The music side means that I have to hold at least 100Gb
Web-space, which is a lot to keep going. I pay out about £30 per month to keep
that side up and running as much as I can.
The recipes side means I have to test all the recipes (which,
considering I live alone) means that I spend a lot on ingredients which I don’t
really see the benefits of myself, as no-one could eat that much food by
themselves!
The forum side is all about people being completely free to
express themselves, or to rant, as much as they like without fear of
retribution. I felt this necessary because so many forums try to dictate the
views of the people using them. I believe in free speech, so I felt it
necessary to provide somewhere where I know people are free to say
whatever they feel (even if I don’t agree with it).
The overall aim of the whole group of sites is to provide
information and resources free to everyone in a world where everyone seems to
expect nothing to be free anymore.
The only reason that I have finally given in and put up this
option for people to make donations if they want to is that money is just
becoming too tight recently, and I am not sure how long I will be able to keep
financing it all by myself anymore.
To be honest, I will be pleasantly
shocked of anyone does decide to donate anything to help, but I cannot
afford to not give people the option anymore.
