Deep Dish Artichoke Heart & Bacon Pizza

 

Serves : 2 x 20cm / 8 inch Pizzas

 

Ingredients:

 

2¼ cups / 225g / 8oz Flour made into risen Pizza Dough

1 tbsp Olive Oil

cups / 300ml / ½ pint Tomato Sauce 2

1 Can Artichoke Hearts

12 Slices Bacon

1 tbsp Parmesan Cheese

1 tbsp Freshly Chopped Basil or Parsley Leaves

 

Instructions:

 

  1. Shape the risen dough into 2 x 20cm / 8 inch flan rings (pie plates) or sandwich cake pans (tins).

 

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F / 220°C / Gas Mark 7.

 

  1. Brush over the dough with the oil and divide the tomato sauce between the two bases.

 

  1. Drain the artichoke hearts.

 

  1. Roll up the slices of bacon and cook under the grill (broiler) or in the oven for a few minutes.

 

  1. Sprinkle the pizzas with parmesan cheese and herbs.

 

  1. Arrange the artichoke hearts alternately with the bacon rolls. Brush over with the remaining oil.

 

  1. Cook in hot oven for 15 – 20 minutes before reducing the heat to 375°F / 190°C / Gas Mark 5 for a further 5 minutes.
